Troubleshooting.

Plugin not listed

Work through these in order.

  1. Check that <Name>.vst3 is in /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3/.
  2. Check that <Name>.clap is in /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/CLAP/.
  3. Restart your DAW.
  4. Rescan plugins in your DAW.
  5. In Ableton Live, turn on Use VST3 Plug-In System Folders in the Plug-Ins settings. Live lists VST3 plugins only with that setting on.
  6. In Ableton Live, Option-click Rescan for a full rescan.
  7. Check that your host loads VST3 or CLAP. Logic Pro and GarageBand list only Audio Units, which these plugins do not include yet.
  8. In Finder, select your host application and choose File, then Get Info.
  9. If Open using Rosetta is ticked, untick it.
  10. Quit the host and open it again.

A host running under Rosetta on an Apple silicon Mac cannot load the VST3 or CLAP plugins. That includes a host built for Intel only: it always runs under Rosetta, has no such checkbox, and needs a version built for Apple silicon.

The install steps are on the Install page.

Will not open

The plugins need a Mac with Apple silicon, running macOS 11 or later. They are built for Apple silicon only.

If macOS shows a warning when your host loads a plugin, do not override it. Email support@gda-audio.com with the exact text of the warning, the plugin, and where you downloaded it from.

If a plugin does not open for another reason, report the problem.

Sessions and state

Presets you saved from inside a plugin are files in ~/Library/Application Support/gda/presets/, with one folder for each plugin. They are not part of the plugin bundles, so installing, updating, or deleting the bundles does not change them.

How a host restores a saved project is not covered here yet. If a project does not come back as you saved it, report the problem with the host and version.

A download link is valid for 72 hours. After that it stops working, and the plugin has to be downloaded again from a fresh link.

  • The order email has a link to get a fresh email. Open it, enter the email address you used at checkout, and a new 72-hour link is sent to that address and no other.
  • If no email arrives within about five minutes of paying, the thank-you page you land on after checkout has a link to request a fresh one.
  • Resends are limited: wait the time the page asks for between requests. If it says the resend limit is reached, email support@gda-audio.com.

Report a problem

Email support@gda-audio.com. Include:

  • The plugin and the version you installed.
  • Your host and its version.
  • Your macOS version.
  • The steps that lead to the problem, so we can repeat them.
